More than a meal

Discover a country
through its kitchens.

Some of the best travel stories begin around a table.

A Culinary Safari with Legacy brings Tanzania’s flavours and wildlife into one thoughtful journey. Meet the cooks behind the food, follow ingredients from market to kitchen and make time for the conversations that turn a visit into a connection.

Our signature chef-focused route creates space for two full days of culinary exchange, a workshop with hospitality students, Maasai open-fire cooking and traditional food in Mto wa Mbu. Between these encounters, discover Tanzania’s remarkable national parks with your private guide.

Let’s shape your journey together
The ingredients of your journey

Six experiences.
One memorable safari.

Hands-on cooking, generous hosts and extraordinary landscapes. Every experience is woven into a route designed around your interests.

01

The chef exchange

Two full days of shared cooking with Tanzanian chefs. Canadian and American visiting chefs bring their own techniques to the table, learning, tasting and creating together.

02

Maasai open-fire cooking

Spend time with Maasai hosts, discovering the stories and traditions around an open-fire barbecue. The visit follows the hosts’ customs and the rhythm of the community.

03

Mto wa Mbu, from market to table

Explore seasonal ingredients with a local guide, then join a traditional cooking session. Discover how everyday dishes connect farms, family kitchens and the Rift Valley.

04

Pass knowledge forward

Share practical skills with hospitality students in Arusha during a chef-led workshop. Build the session around the students’ interests and what visiting chefs can contribute.

05

Wildlife between the kitchens

Leave space for Tarangire’s elephants, the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti game drives. Meals and lodge kitchens become part of the journey, alongside the landscapes outside.

06

A coastal finishing touch

Add three nights in Zanzibar for a spice-farm visit and a Swahili coastal cooking class. Discover how spices and Indian Ocean influences shape the island’s food.

Travellers spending time with Maasai hosts
An exchange, in every sense

Good food.
Shared knowledge.
Real connection.

For visiting chefs, this is a chance to step into another food culture with curiosity and respect. For local hosts and students, it is an opportunity to share their knowledge and exchange ideas with fellow cooks.

We plan each session with the people hosting it. Menus, teaching topics and timing are agreed around the group’s interests and the hosts’ availability.
