Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival & private welcome in Dar es Salaam

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or the airport shown in your final program, where a Legacy representative welcomes you and assists with your private transfer. Settle into your accommodation, recover from the journey and meet your safari specialist or guide for an unhurried briefing. We review the route, daily rhythm, luggage, dietary needs and any optional experiences so you begin the safari knowing exactly what to expect. If your flight arrives early, the remainder of the day stays deliberately light rather than trying to force sightseeing into your arrival schedule.

Stay: Dar es Salaam hotel   ·   Meals: Dinner
Day 2

Travel to Ruaha National Park & first exploration

After breakfast, leave Dar es Salaam and continue privately toward Ruaha National Park. The transfer is treated as part of the journey rather than lost time: your guide plans sensible comfort stops, points out changes in landscape and, where appropriate, includes wildlife or cultural stops en route. After arriving and settling in, begin a spacious wilderness day among baobabs, rocky hills and the Great Ruaha River. The park is especially rewarding for elephants, predators and a sense of remoteness, with flexible drives shaped around fresh sightings. The timing remains flexible so the day can respond to road conditions, seasonal wildlife and how you are feeling. Return to your lodge or camp with time to refresh before dinner and a briefing for the following day.

Stay: Ruaha safari camp   ·   Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 3

Full day in Ruaha National Park

Today is devoted to Ruaha National Park, giving you enough time to experience the area without rushing onward. Your private guide plans the strongest hours around local conditions and your interests, with the option of an early start, a relaxed lunch break or a longer full-day outing. Expect a spacious wilderness day among baobabs, rocky hills and the Great Ruaha River. The park is especially rewarding for elephants, predators and a sense of remoteness, with flexible drives shaped around fresh sightings. Because the journey is private, the day can be adjusted if a special sighting, weather change or unexpected opportunity deserves more time. Return to your lodge or camp in the late afternoon or early evening for dinner, rest and a clear briefing on the next stage of the safari.

Final morning & onward departure

Enjoy a final unhurried morning in Ruaha National Park. Depending on your flight or onward arrangements, there may be time for a short wildlife drive, relaxed breakfast or simply time to enjoy the lodge before departure. If you are extending the journey to another East African country, the coast or a mountain program, the handover is arranged as part of the same itinerary so there is no uncertainty between services. Your final documents will show the exact transfer, meal and luggage arrangements for this day.
