Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival & private welcome in Arusha

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or the airport shown in your final program, where a Legacy representative welcomes you and assists with your private transfer. Settle into your accommodation, recover from the journey and meet your safari specialist or guide for an unhurried briefing. We review the route, daily rhythm, luggage, dietary needs and any optional experiences so you begin the safari knowing exactly what to expect. If your flight arrives early, the remainder of the day stays deliberately light rather than trying to force sightseeing into your arrival schedule.

Stay: Boutique Arusha lodge   ·   Meals: Dinner
Day 2

Travel to Tarangire & first exploration

After breakfast, leave Arusha and continue privately toward Tarangire. The transfer is treated as part of the journey rather than lost time: your guide plans sensible comfort stops, points out changes in landscape and, where appropriate, includes wildlife or cultural stops en route. After arriving and settling in, begin game drives among giant baobabs, seasonal riverbeds and elephant country. Your guide uses current wildlife movement and light conditions to shape the day, allowing time to pause at productive water points and quieter corners of the park. The timing remains flexible so the day can respond to road conditions, seasonal wildlife and how you are feeling. Return to your lodge or camp with time to refresh before dinner and a briefing for the following day.

Stay: Tarangire safari lodge or camp   ·   Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 3

Travel to Lake Manyara & first exploration

After breakfast, leave Tarangire and continue privately toward Lake Manyara. The transfer is treated as part of the journey rather than lost time: your guide plans sensible comfort stops, points out changes in landscape and, where appropriate, includes wildlife or cultural stops en route. After arriving and settling in, begin a varied Rift Valley landscape of groundwater forest, acacia woodland and open lakeshore. The day is paced around wildlife, birdlife and changing scenery, with time for photography and a relaxed picnic or lodge lunch. The timing remains flexible so the day can respond to road conditions, seasonal wildlife and how you are feeling. Return to your lodge or camp with time to refresh before dinner and a briefing for the following day.

Stay: Lake Manyara or Karatu lodge   ·   Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 4

Travel to Ngorongoro & first exploration

After breakfast, leave Lake Manyara and continue privately toward Ngorongoro. The transfer is treated as part of the journey rather than lost time: your guide plans sensible comfort stops, points out changes in landscape and, where appropriate, includes wildlife or cultural stops en route. After arriving and settling in, begin an early descent into the Ngorongoro Crater for a private game drive across grasslands, woodland and wetlands. The enclosed ecosystem supports dense wildlife and excellent chances for memorable predator, elephant and plains-game encounters. The timing remains flexible so the day can respond to road conditions, seasonal wildlife and how you are feeling. Return to your lodge or camp with time to refresh before dinner and a briefing for the following day.

Stay: Ngorongoro highlands lodge   ·   Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 5

Final morning & onward departure

Enjoy a final unhurried morning in Ngorongoro. Depending on your flight or onward arrangements, there may be time for a short wildlife drive, relaxed breakfast or simply time to enjoy the lodge before departure. Your guide then coordinates the private transfer to your final Tanzanian airport and confirms the timing with enough margin for check-in. If you are extending the journey to another East African country, the coast or a mountain program, the handover is arranged as part of the same itinerary so there is no uncertainty between services. Your final documents will show the exact transfer, meal and luggage arrangements for this day.

Stay: Day room or onward connection as required   ·   Meals: Breakfast
