Why Ruaha

Wild, dramatic and wonderfully uncrowded.

Ruaha sits at the heart of southern Tanzania’s safari identity: remote, spacious and visually distinctive. River systems, rocky hills, baobab woodland and broad plains create a landscape that feels very different from the northern circuit.

Legacy recommends Ruaha to travellers who want to spend longer in fewer places. With enough time, game drives can follow the rhythm of the river, revisit promising areas and make space for the kind of patient encounters that define a private safari.

Inside Ruaha

A landscape built for exploration.

The Great Ruaha River, seasonal sand rivers, baobab woodland and rocky country create a mosaic of habitats that support rich wildlife and rewarding photography.

Wildlife

Predator country on a grand scale.

Getting there

A fly-in wilderness worth staying for.

Ruaha is most comfortably reached by scheduled or charter light aircraft from Dar es Salaam, Nyerere, Zanzibar or northern Tanzania connections.

Because Ruaha is remote, we prefer to give it enough time — usually several nights — rather than treating it as a quick add-on.
